Thanksgiving and Four Day Weekends

Hi everyone! This week I got daddy for a full four days! He had two days off for Thanksgiving and then the weekend! It was great!

I'm growing taller and taller and bigger and bigger still! It was finally cold enough for me to wear a big marshmallow snow suit outside for our walk....and it might be the last time I'll fit in it too. I grow so fast!

I like to laugh and giggle a lot. I can even roll over from back to front which I do all the time now! Except I forgot how to roll over from front to back, so when I roll and end up on my tummy I get really mad...sometimes right away or sometimes after ten minutes.

I do not like this position.
I like to play with my Baby Einstein light up music toy, my boomerang rings, and my grabby cube rattling thing.
Om nom nom
I still do not like my car seat.  Usually I start wailing as soon as I'm in the car. Sometimes I fall asleep after 5 minutes, but usually I don't. Hopefully I learn to like it soon!
My car seat is warm and cozy and I can see things through my head hole!
I love to play with mommy. She really makes me laugh!

Daddy discovered a new fun game. He can only do it after he hasn't had to work for a few days though. It's called "Tickle William with his scruffy beard!"

I really like my family!

Squeals of an Inch Worm

Sometimes inch worms are sad. That's when they cry and wail.

Sometimes inch worms are sleepy. That's when they make really quiet breathing noises.

Sometimes inch worms are happy. That's when they laugh and smile.

Sometimes inch worms are ecstatic and love what's going on. That's when they sound like this:

Sometimes inch worms wake up at 5 am (curse ye daylight savings time!) and then squeal happily for an hour before falling back asleep...right before daddy has to wake up for work.

Sometimes inch worms keep mommy up late at night and then decided they only want to be happy in the car. That's when inch worms and mommies look like this:

Sometimes inch worms get to have their daddy home on holidays. That's when they look like this:

Random inchings

I love to grow bigger and bigger! I enjoy my toys like my ring ball thing, my boomerang rings, and my baby einstein light up classical music noisemaker.

Yesterday daddy and I hung out all morning while mommy got to sleep in. She works so hard to help me grow and be happy. Daddy and I went to a yard sale and he bought some tools and some small wood wheels and dowels. I have a feeling he's going to try to make me a toy soon!

Then mommy took me so daddy could rake leaves and mow the lawn. Baron helped too. When he finished, we went to Fort McHenry. It was chilly but mommy cuddled me and kept me warm! Silly daddy forgot to take pictures so we'll have to go back again in the spring.

Peek A Boo!

I just started to like playing games! I especially like Peek A Boo! But, that also means I get really sad sometimes when Mommy leaves the room. I don't know that she still exists when I can't see her. Here are some videos of Daddy playing peek-a-boo with me!

He's growing bigger every day! It seems weekly we have to go through his clothes and set aside ones that do not fit. His personality is really starting to shine. Mommy has him figured out mostly, and Daddy is getting a good handle on things too, even though Mommy spends more time with him while Daddy is at work.

We visited Daddy at work the other day. He was taking a class at a training location, so we were actually able to visit him! We don't get to go to his normal work though. It's a very secure location.

Mommy discovered another new game I like today. It's called "Hold me in your hands and extend your arms quickly above your head but don't actually toss me in the air." That game is fun! It really makes me laugh.
I like to eat Brain Slugs before they can eat me!

Daddy fed me at church today. Then I slept like this for an hour.

I like Daddy's hat! It's still a little big for me though....even though daddy wore it when he was a baby.

I like Space Ships!

Late October Inchings

October has been a busy month. It's starting to get colder so Inchy gets to wear all his warm clothes and pajamas. He's growing bigger and bigger and starting to understand that he can pull his hands to his mouth to suck on. He discovered himself in the mirror. Most importantly, he has been consistently giving us 7 hours of sleep.

Hi Everyone!
We went to a corn maze. I had fun! Mommy and daddy shot pumpkins out of a cannon at giant transformers and cars.
Mommy was in the shadows, but she nailed the car!
Afterwards we enjoyed the toasty warm bonfire.

Daddy likes Halloween time, because he can use 12 pound pumpkins to give him a little extra workout. I like to help him workout!
I like my new toy! I can grab it and pull it to my mouth!

Smiles and Cloth Diaper Trials

We're getting more and more smiles all the time.  The other day, I think I might even have gotten a little chuckle.  He likes to smile at his daddy, because dads are fun and like to play!  Also, that's what Nate looks like on a Sunday when he decides to go do some woodworking after he's already dressed for church.
Bathtime is so much fun!  I love my chicken towel.
We made another attempt at introducing pacifiers this week, and it worked magically.  He seemed a bit confused, but he calmed down quite nicely.  I don't want him to have it all the time, like if he's happily babbling during church I'll just let him babble rather than shove a pacifier in his mouth so he'll be quiet.  But when he's just so sad and nothing is working, it's nice to have another calming option.

Another thing we started this week was a cloth diaper trial program, and it's been really great!  For the most part.  I am glad we did the trial before purchasing any diapers because I've discovered that some fit him better than others.  In other words, I've been peed on quite a bit this week.  I'm really loving the fact that I haven't used any disposables today (which is good, since we're down to our last few).  Today the main focusing was mastering prefolds.

Cloth diapers are so much bigger than disposables!

Does this make my butt look big?

Oh, hey!

It's always nice to just relax as a family.  Turns out Baron makes a decent seat.
What?  You don't sit on your dog?
 Inchy loves his Baron chair!

The Outdoors! A Picnic and Hike

Saturday was such a beautiful day! The weather was nice and not too hot. Since Mommy is now allowed to do all of her normal mommy things again, we decided to go for a family picnic! We even decided to bring Baron along, since he also likes being outside and going for walks. Luckily our friends accidentally left their cooler when they visited us, so we were able to send them a picture and tell them "We're on a picnic...and we Lovett!"

We had lots of fun! First we ate our food and avoided the two scary bees that were trying to steal our food. Then we went for a short hike down to the river. Daddy was so busy making sure Baron didn't pull him down the hill and Mommy was so busy making sure she didn't trip on a rock holding me that they both forgot to take more pictures of the actual hike! I guess they'll have to take me on another one sometime soon! Baron splashed around in the water a bit and got all stinky. Daddy gave him a bath when we got home. I think he likes baths. Maybe when I'm bigger I'll splash around in the tub with Baron. Speaking of bath time...I enjoyed my bath today before church!

Bathing like a boss.

Daddy was gone for a few days at the Arnold Air Society and Silver Wings executive boards meeting in DC. He volunteers to help college Air Force ROTC cadets and civilians be more awesome leaderships and to develop professionally. Plus he gets to meet lots of cool Air Force military and civilian leaders. And wear his fancy uniform that I almost spat up on. Lucky for him I gave him one good gag warning. Oh, and lucky for him I didn't spit up on his nice suit after church because my hand was covering my mouth.
I'm glad daddy is home from his conference!
He even brought me back an aviator bear!
It was a nice night, so we ate on the deck. It was hard to get a good picture, and Cara was making many goofy faces. This just happened to be the one I caught on camera.

Pictures 13 September

Cuddle time with daddy!

Baron loves all the baby things around.

Sounds of an Inchworm

Our little guy is getting to be a lot of fun.  He's helping us stay in shape, too!  He sure is growing fast.  We had our one month checkup at the pediatrician, and he is now just a few ounces shy of ten pounds.  He's outgrown a couple of his newborn outfits because he's quite tall.  Or long.  However you measure babies.  We had to move the shoulder straps up on his car seat.  Daddy and mommy are just doing their best to love every minute of having our little guy be our little guy, because he won't be little very long.

Just for fun, here's what he sounds like when he sleeps.

One Month

William is one month old!  I can't believe it.  I finally managed to get some pictures, too.  So, here are some updates on our little inchworm.

He's getting really good at holding his head up!  He hates tummy time on the floor, but he's usually quite happy to have tummy time on our tummies.  Of course, sometimes this leads to sleeping.  He's so cuddly!

He's starting to accept (and a couple of times has even enjoyed) being put on his back.  Hopefully soon he'll actually sleep this way.  Baron likes to help him with his playmat, which at this point is still a bit advanced for him.  But it's soft and it plays music, so it's nicer than the floor, and there's no chance of him falling off anything!

It's a work in progress, but we're starting to see some smiles!  He smiles a lot when he's sleeping, and sometimes even laughs in his sleep.  I keep trying to catch the sleep-laughing on video, but haven't managed yet.  It's quite possibly the most precious thing I've ever seen.

 I love his face!

Look, an almost identical picture! Who cares, it's cute.

Inchy the Inch Worm!

William's just a few short days of a month old. We decided to make a blog for the many people who want to see pictures. Instead of individually sending updates to everyone, we'll post the most relevant photos and stories so everyone can stay up to date. Of course, you're still more than welcome to talk to us!

We (Nate) have taken to calling William "Inchy" since he looks like an inch worm when he's swaddled. Plus, he likes to kick his legs out and scoot forward inches at a time when we put him down or if he is lying on our chests.

The past few days he's been enjoying his swing more and more. Usually he just cries whenever we put him down...so all the ideas we had about being parents...well some are gone already. Like co-sleeping. That's the only way he'll sleep, so for our sanity, we've been co-sleeping with him on our chests or strategically away from blankets, pillows, and the edge. Last night he slept in his swing for 2 hours, giving mom and dad some nice time to relax before we carefully carried his swing down the hall into the bed room so we could get ready for bed. Hopefully soon he'll sleep in his pack and play and eventually in his crib...where we will work on satellite identification.
Hand-Carved Satellite Mobile

He's been a joy and a blessing so far. He's extremely cute and cuddly. Luckily he's starting to like his dad more and more.Mom's still the clear winner for "Which Parent Do You Love More?". Dad really doesn't have any chance though since he can't make food......

He loves the outdoors! When we stand near the windows or go for walks on the trail behind our house he just loves to look and look at the trees and shadows. He'll be fussy and within a few minutes of going outside he'll be calm as can be. Good signs for when we want to go camping or...scouting!
